A discussion on the preliminary report of the deaf resource class study

The discussion program on the preliminary report of the deaf resource class study has been completed. In the study conducted by the National Deaf Federation of Nepal, resource classes for deaf children have been selected from all seven provinces. According to the preliminary report, the teachers who teach in the resource class are not skilled in sign language, there are sexual violence against the girls studying in the resource class, they are not able to get quality education, etc. The program was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and its subordinate departments and associations working in the field of disability.

At the beginning of the study, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Suresh Adhikari, gave instructions to the subordinate offices saying that the issues raised in the report were very serious.

KP Adhikari, President of the National Deaf Federation of Nepal, drew everyone's attention to the fact that the children studying in resource classes are not enjoying even the minimum human rights and if this situation is not resolved immediately, major accidents may occur in the coming days. The study was conducted under the leadership of disability campaigner Sudarsan Subedi. The program was organized by the National Deaf Federation of Nepal, in collaboration with the Open Society Foundation and coordinated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
